SUMMARY:MEDLINE (via the PubMed interface)
DESCRIPTION:Do you have the feeling you can find too many or just too few scientific articles in PubMed? Are the articles you find often irrelevant? Do you feel you are losing a lot of time in your literature search? Then do not hesitate to enroll. \n  \nLearning outcomes of the course \nUpon completion of this course\, participants will have \n\nan understanding of which source is most suitable for which research question and goal\,\nan understanding of indexing and the assets of using the index terms while searching\,\nan understanding of stemming and lemmatization\,\nthe skills to perform a time-efficient search for (the latest) literature\,\nthe skills to use this database for a systematic review\,\nthe skills to efficiently use the unique features of the source in order to enhance retrieval of information\n\nFormat \nBlended learning (for each of the modules)\, entirely online \n\ninstruction videos explaining the theory and including demo searches (approximately 1h) will be available at Ufora to watch at their own pace\nan exercise to perform at their own pace (approximately 1h)\ndiscussion of the exercise and question and answer session with teacher (1h) + quiz (10 min) at the end of the session\n\nRegistration: https://event.ugent.be/registration/NEXTmedline \nAdditional information \nThe Knowledge Centre for Health Ghent offers training to improve your searching experiences in biomedical and multidisciplinary databases. \nThese in-depth courses will help participants to develop their knowledge and practical skills in searching and retrieving scientific evidence. Having these skills becomes increasingly important to\, for example\, handle the increasing amount of literature in your research area\, to find applicable evidence to write research project proposals and to support your grant application\, among others. \nIf you successfully following three modules\, it will be added to your Doctoral Schools curriculum as transferable skills course. \nTeacher: Nele Pauwels (Information Specialist Knowledge Centre for Health Ghent) \n
